The infrastructure sector is at a crossroads, facing urgent challenges that demand decisive action. Achieving this programme will require a skilled, diverse and sustainable workforce. That’s why we have partnered with the National Infrastructure Commission and worked in close collaboration with almost 20 contractors, consultancies and clients to develop the Infrastructure Diversity Charter.
Acknowledging the work taking place across the infrastructure industry, the Charter provides a strategic framework to improve diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels. Built upon five diversity principles: attraction, retention, progression, leadership, and data and feedback, the Charter is designed to improve equitable access to opportunities and address critical skills shortages that threaten economic growth in the UK.
With the February 2025 launch as just the first step in a collaborative journey to improve equitable access to opportunities, the Charter is looking to double the number of infrastructure contractors, consultancies and clients that are actively involved in driving progress throughout 2025. Please contact diversitycharter@infrastructure-matters.co.uk if you and your organisation want to play a part in driving change.
In the meantime, you can download accessible copies of the Infrastructure Diversity Charter, supporting case studies and a poster below – all tools to contribute to a more inclusive, equitable and diverse infrastructure sector for the future.
By embracing diversity, we can enhance skills, drive innovation, boost productivity and ultimately deliver better outcomes.
