A new report by the LSE Consultancy Society and Infrastructure Matters
We are delighted to publish Bridging the Gap: Infrastructure Careers from a Social Science Perspective, a new report exploring why social science students remain largely absent from the infrastructure sector and what can be done about it.
Produced by students from the London School of Economics Consultancy Society under the guidance of Infrastructure Matters, the report examines the current infrastructure landscape, including industry challenges, investment needs, and knowledge-sharing gaps across the sector.
Drawing on a survey of students, the report investigates how young people perceive infrastructure and careers within it. It asks why students from social science backgrounds, whose skills are increasingly needed to address complex, interconnected challenges, are not entering the industry in greater numbers.
The report concludes with a set of actionable recommendations for academia, industry, and government on how to better engage students from outside traditional infrastructure backgrounds and build a more diverse pipeline of future talent.
